Jonah had a big problem – he had been swallowed by a giant fish. Through this problem he trusted God to save him. Jonah prayed to God and knew that even though he was in this difficult situation, God would not let him down.

But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the Lord !”

Jonah 2:9

Even when storms hit and we feel like something in our life is swallowing us up, tearing us down, even destroying our lives or ourselves, God is there. See, God doesn’t want us to merely say we’re His. He wants us to be willing to sacrifice everything for Him. When we’re in the belly of a giant fish we should rest in the peace that no matter what happens, God is doing His good work around us – even when we can’t see it or even feel it.

As Christians we vow to give our life to the Lord and there will be times He may ask us to prove our faith and our vow to Him. Are you willing to lose it all to gain the blessings God has stored up for you?
